Mondrian 151
Today (March 7), marks 151 years since the birth of abstract artist Piet Mondrian. The Dutch painter is probably best known for his Compositions in Red, Blue and Yellow, pairing his work down to just three colours and two directions: horizontal and vertical. This inspired the entirely frivolous thought: I wonder what that would look like as a Rubik's Cube? That, in turn, gave way to what other things could be given the Mondrian treatment to mark the anniversary. Maybe a Mondrian-themed game of Tetris on a Mondrian Gameboy? Or perhaps some Mondrian-inspired trainers. This train of thought led back to posters of artwork frames and windows, applying the three colours and two directions with added depth and shadow.
